Window tinting isn’t just for cars, luxury SUVs, or buildings. For aircraft owners and operators, controlling heat, glare, and UV exposure inside the cabin is critical. Whether you're flying a personal jet, a helicopter, or a fixed-wing aircraft, specialty window tinting offers performance, comfort, and protection at altitude—and that’s where Dixie Tint Pros brings its experience to the skies.
With years of experience serving Austin’s auto, residential, and commercial clients, we now bring the same level of precision and care to aircraft window tinting. If you’ve been searching for window tinting in Austin that includes aviation-grade services, we’re ready to take on your project.
Aircraft are exposed to more than just sunlight. At cruising altitudes, the intensity of UV and infrared radiation is significantly greater than what ground vehicles face. Glass and polycarbonate windows on planes and helicopters let in sunlight from multiple angles, amplifying glare and increasing cabin temperature—especially in cockpits with panoramic views.
Without tint, aircraft interiors are vulnerable to:
Just like luxury drivers in Austin seek auto tint solutions to stay cool and protected, aircraft operators need a similar level of comfort—but adapted to higher altitude conditions and more complex window shapes.
Dixie Tint Pros uses specialty films engineered for aircraft applications. These films offer advanced performance without interfering with communication or navigation systems. Key benefits include:
From smaller general aviation aircraft to midsize jets, these tints provide practical advantages without compromising safety or visibility.
Tinting an airplane is not like tinting a car. Aircraft windows vary in shape, curvature, and material. Many are made of acrylic or polycarbonate, not glass—requiring non-reactive adhesives and tint films that won’t warp or discolor with altitude pressure changes.
At Dixie Tint Pros, we apply tint with:
Each job is handled in a clean environment, using aviation-safe materials that match FAA-recommended guidelines and manufacturer specs when applicable.
Aircraft window tinting isn’t just for large jets. Window tints can also be applied to:
Owners of high-end aircraft often request blackened windows or window privacy film to improve cabin discretion, especially when parked at regional airfields or private hangars. This added privacy also reduces visibility from the exterior, keeping interiors out of view and reducing solar load while on the ground.
Aviation-grade window film also helps protect your investment. The sun can crack vinyl seats, fade upholstery, and damage electronic panels over time. Heat buildup affects everything from dashboard adhesives to delicate instrumentation.
Installing ceramic window tint or similar high-quality films slows this degradation and reduces the need for costly interior repairs or replacements. Just like tinted windows, which Austin drivers rely on to preserve luxury interiors, aircraft cabin materials benefit greatly from reduced UV and heat exposure.
Aircraft parked on open tarmacs in Austin can become ovens within minutes. Cabin temps can climb fast—even faster than cars—especially in summer months. Window tinting helps regulate that interior climate, reducing A/C demand and making preflight prep more comfortable.
For pilots and owners who regularly fly out of Austin Executive Airport, Georgetown Municipal, or regional airfields, the right tint makes an immediate difference when boarding, taxiing, or holding during warm-up.
Unlike automobiles, aircraft tinting falls under FAA guidelines rather than Texas tint law. That said, visibility and safety always come first. We follow:
We’ll help you choose the right shade and material based on your flight environment and visibility requirements.
Dixie Tint Pros offers professional, on-location service and scheduling flexibility for aviation clients. We serve personal aircraft owners, charter operators, and maintenance managers with the same quality and service we’re known for in the automotive world.
We provide ceramic and dyed window tints to all of our customers and are an exclusive distributor of Autobahn window films. All of our tints are multilayered and provide protection against scratches, heat, and UV rays
The darkness of window film is regulated based on the Visible Light Transmission or VLT – the percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of the film and the window. Texas laws contain specific regulations based on the type of vehicle. The requirements for sedans, SUVs and vans are as follows.
- Windshield: 25% VLT tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line or top 5 inches, with less than 25% reflection
- Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in
- Back Side Windows: Any level of darkness
- Rear Windows: Any darkness can be used with side outside mirrors, 25% VLT without.

The cost of window tinting can vary depending on the size of your vehicle, the windows you want to tint, and the type of film you choose. Generally, the larger the vehicle and the higher the window counts, the more it will cost. Premium Window Films, like our Nanoflex Premium Ceramic window film, start around $125 per window while our quality cost effective Carbon Terraflex Window Films can be as low as $59 per window. Despite our business being window tints, Dixie Tint Pros is completely transparent when it comes to pricing. You will know your out-the-door cost before you arrive at one of our stores, if you request a quote from us.
The short answer is no, it is not illegal to have window tint on your car’s windows. However, Texas regulates the amount of light that your tint can block. Your vehicle tint must follow Visible Light Transmission or VLT standards established by the state of Texas. Carbon tints are made from sheets of polyester or another laminate materials that include microscopic Carbon particles that, depending on quantity, can provide varying shades from very light to very dark. Ceramic window tint is the highest quality window film on the market and is made from polyester or laminate based sheets. They are available in a variety of shades and colors. The main difference between ceramic tint and carbon tint is that ceramic tint is coated with ceramic particles at the end of the manufacturing process. Ceramic tints blocks visible sunlight, adds privacy, blocks harmful UV rays, glare, and heat.
